Dubai Police has introduced a new system within its Forensic Medicine Department aimed at cutting waiting times and speeding up the issuance of medical reports used in criminal investigations. According to Dr Younis Al Balooshi, head of the Forensic Medicine Department, the new system sorts cases by the type and severity of injury, allowing staff and resources to be allocated more efficiently.
Under the new approach, minor injury cases rely on patients' existing medical records rather than repeating full examinations, reducing the workload on medical staff and avoiding unnecessary duplication of procedures. The department has also increased its medical staffing levels to better handle the volume of cases it processes.
Senior Dubai Police officials, including deputies overseeing criminal affairs, described the changes as a step toward improving operational efficiency without compromising the scientific accuracy of forensic reports. Officials said the overall effect would be a noticeable reduction in waiting times for residents and faster completion of procedures tied to criminal and traffic cases.
Dubai Police has previously rolled out a series of digital and smart tools across different departments, including criminal investigations and public services, as part of a broader push to streamline casework. The latest change in forensic medicine fits into that same direction, aiming for closer coordination between the force's medical, judicial and policing functions.
